A young and ambitious Hungarian team has embarked on a mission to fulfill the challenge of the Google Lunar X PRIZE – a $30 million international competition – and send a rover to the Moon. The challenge is great, but it is technically feasible. Team Puli is working full speed since June 2010. In the meantime we have managed to collect the required $50 000 registration fee for the competiton and  we are continously working on designing our rovers and broadening our educational program. All scientists, engineers and other professionals taking part in the project do currently this voluntarily, however for a successful mission we need to invest in a large amount of equipment and have to provide funds for various other costs.

Currently we are working on the project Iteration 2 / Hunveyor 15. During this work we lay down the "nervous system" of tour Moon mission,  and, in the sense of the Hunveyor program, the same time we are developing some simpler Puli rovers.

Our Small Step Club is a continuously growing group of individuals, the first 15.000 people who support the launch of the Puli with a little contribution: e.g., with the equivalent of your two working hours salary, but at least 1,000 HUF (which is about 4 EUR or 5 USD). This might be a small amount for a man, but the united effort creates a fantastic opportunity for the Puli to write history.

All club members also become Venture Sponsors, whose names will be carried by the Puli to the Moon. Members of the Small Step Club will also receive a personal certificate, and – if our mission will succeed – a unique photograph of the lunar surface. After closing member acceptance of our Club, valuable prizes will also be handed out to lucky club members.

The Google Lunar X Prize

The Google Lunar X PRIZE is a $30 million international competition to safely land a robot on the surface of the Moon, travel 500 meters over the lunar surface, and send images and data back to Earth. Teams must be at least 90% privately funded and must be registered to compete by December 31, 2010. The first team to land on the Moon and complete the mission objectives will be awarded $20 million; the full first prize is available until a government funded mission reaches the lunar surface, currently expected to occur in 2013. After that, the first prize will drop to $15 million. The second team to land on the Moon will be awarded $5 million. Another $5 million will awarded in bonus prizes. The final deadline for winning the prize is December 31, 2015.
